Chapter 13: Encountering Danger
Feng Bai Su was idly playing with a tree branch she had plucked.
Suddenly, a sharp male cry came from the lush forest!
Her expression became solemn, her brows furrowed tightly. Without any hesitation, she tightly squeezed her legs and rode her small chestnut horse towards the dense forest.
At the bottom of a large tree, several young gentlemen huddled closely together, leaning against the thick trunk and sobbing softly. From time to time, arrow shadows flashed by their side, instantly frightening them into trembling.
When Feng Bai Su passed through the forest and saw them, she noticed an arrow shooting straight towards them from an angle.
The young gentlemen were so frightened that their faces turned pale, the delicate makeup on their faces losing all color.
Seeing this, she clicked her tongue impatiently. She drew out a bow and arrow from her side, nocked the arrow, and instantly shot it towards that sharp arrow!
With a crisp clang!
The two arrowheads collided and immediately fell to the ground.
Shen Ruo, hearing the sound, bravely opened his eyes to look. He saw an exquisitely beautiful woman sitting upright on a small chestnut horse, her rippling peach blossom eyes coldly looking down at them.
“Why are you here?”
Shen Ruo stared at her blankly, opening and closing his mouth but unable to speak.
Seeing impatience growing in her eyes, he stammered in a hoarse voice, “We, we just came for autumn, autumn viewing.”
Feng Bai Su looked at the delicate young gentlemen before her and felt only trouble. Not wanting to say much to them, she spoke coldly, “Alright, follow behind me. I’ll lead you out.”
Saying this, she turned her horse around and slowly moved forward.
Shen Ruo and the others, seeing that she had no intention of dismounting, could only support each other to stand up and follow tremblingly behind her.
Just as they were about to exit, Shen Ruo, who had been frightened into a daze, suddenly reacted and exclaimed, “Ah! My cousin is still inside!”
Feng Bai Su immediately reined in her horse and stopped, frowning as she looked at him.
She saw him looking at her anxiously, pointing urgently to the right, “He’s, he’s over there!”
Hearing this, Feng Bai Su couldn’t help but curse under her breath, “Troublesome!”
Then she looked at them coldly and said, “The exit is just ahead, you go out and wait first.”
After speaking, she rode her small chestnut horse back into the lush forest.
The young gentlemen, watching her gradually disappearing figure, couldn’t help but grip each other’s hands tightly, comforting each other, “Everything will be fine…”
——
In the dense forest, Wei Jing Mo, who had become separated from the others, was crouched behind a huge rock. The sound of galloping hooves and startled birds and beasts constantly came from around him, filling his heart with fear. The corners of his cold eyes also turned slightly red.
At this moment, a sudden rustling sound came from behind the rock, causing his body to instantly tense up. His hand, pressed against the dead leaves, couldn’t help but grip tightly.
Suddenly, the sound of something cutting through the wind rang out!
The rustling behind him abruptly stopped.
He remained rigid for a long time, finally anxiously peeking out from behind the rock. Looking up, he saw the carcass of a wild beast lying not far from the rock, with a cold arrow still embedded in it.
A figure in sapphire blue emerged from the opposite forest.
She rode a small chestnut horse, her slender jade-like fingers holding a sharp bow and arrow. Her beautiful face still retained a trace of killing intent, making one’s heart tremble with fear.
Her rippling, amorous peach blossom eyes swept over the beast’s carcass before landing on him. Looking down at him from above, her appearance seemed arrogant and cold.
Feng Bai Su, upon seeing Wei Jing Mo’s head poking out, swept her gaze over his panicked little face and couldn’t help but click her tongue, “Young gentleman, you really know how to cause me trouble.”
She rode her small chestnut horse slowly to his front and asked, “Can you stand up?”
Wei Jing Mo, hearing her words and seeing the impatience lingering on her face, couldn’t help but lower his cold ink-black eyes. He lightly bit his thin lips, his jade-like fingers pressing against the rock as he tried to stand up.
Unfortunately, as soon as he put weight on his left foot, he couldn’t help but let out a cry of pain and fell back down.
Instantly, a line of fine sweat appeared on his smooth, fair forehead.
Feng Bai Su, seeing him cry out in pain and fall backwards, quickly jumped down from her horse. She reached out and wrapped an arm around his slender waist, preventing him from hitting the hard rock behind.
She lowered her head to see his pain-enduring expression as he bit his lip, and couldn’t help but click her tongue again, “Why didn’t you say you were injured? What are you trying to prove?”
Wei Jing Mo, however, propped himself up in her arms, biting his lip without speaking, his silent demeanor seeming as if he was sulking.
Seeing this, Feng Bai Su was at a loss for words, not knowing how she had offended this precious young gentleman.
She dutifully bent down to pick him up and placed him sitting on the rock.
Then she knelt on one knee, lifting the hem of his robe to reveal his foot underneath.
When Wei Jing Mo saw her actions, his eyes widened in shock and he exclaimed, “What, what are you doing? Shameless!”
How could a man’s foot be casually seen by a woman? This was something only his future wife-master should see!
Feng Bai Su, however, remained unmoved. She reached out and grasped his ankle. With a gentle force, she heard him cry out in pain.
Looking at his cold jade face full of pain, she said irritably, “What’s shameless about it? If it weren’t for you lot barging in here causing me trouble, I wouldn’t even bother with you.”
Seeing that he was still trying to struggle, she pressed her palm against his body and said in a deep voice, “Stay still!”
Wei Jing Mo, his jade face flushed crimson, could only watch helplessly as she removed the shoe from his foot.
When her warm palm grasped the top of his foot, he felt as if the skin under his sock was burning up, the heat spreading throughout his entire body.
An involuntary flash of shame and anger passed through his cold ink-black eyes.
Feng Bai Su, however, wasn’t thinking about any of that. She lowered her head seriously, her hands applying slight pressure, and a soft crackling sound was heard.
Mmph!
Wei Jing Mo immediately bit his lip to keep from crying out in pain.
Feng Bai Su had already released his foot and slowly stood up, “That’s done. Apply some medicine for a few days and it should be fine.”
Wei Jing Mo quickly covered his foot with the hem of his robe. Hearing her words, he slightly moved the foot hidden underneath, and indeed it wasn’t as painful as before.
Realizing that she had only been examining his injury, he felt both ashamed and somewhat embarrassed.
Wei Jing Mo had always been cold and indifferent, always conducting himself with utmost propriety in front of others.
From childhood to adulthood, he had never been so disheveled and awkward. Yet every time, it happened in front of Feng Bai Su, and each time was more embarrassing than the last.
Thinking of this, he secretly glanced at Feng Bai Su, who was clean and neatly dressed, with a lazy and calm demeanor.
An inexplicable feeling of grievance welled up in his heart, this emotion coming suddenly and violently, causing tears to gather in his eyes.
When he felt the tears on his face, he felt even more ashamed. As if entering a vicious cycle, the tears in his eyes gathered more and more, and he began to sob like a pitiful little flower cat.
Feng Bai Su saw that after she released his foot, the cold jade-like young gentleman before her suddenly began to cry, and he cried more and more sorrowfully, his jade-white nose turning red from crying.
She suddenly felt at a loss. Due to Liu Gui Jun’s existence, Feng Bai Su had a strange aversion to men’s tears. This made her unconsciously soften her voice, “Alright, alright, don’t cry. The injury to your ankle can’t be delayed. You don’t want to become a lame young gentleman, do you? I had no choice! Don’t cry, it’ll be just like last time, only the two of us will know, okay? You’ll still be that pure and innocent young gentleman in the future.”
As she spoke, she reached out to pat his thin back, trying to calm him down.
Wei Jing Mo, hearing her words of comfort, didn’t feel comforted at all.
His eyeballs kept falling relentlessly, and he thought resentfully in his heart: Who’s a lame young gentleman! And he couldn’t be a pure gentleman anymore either. Last time his whole body was soaked through and she saw everything, even holding him for so long, and today she lifted his robe and touched a man’s private foot. Although he knew it was all unavoidable, these things had indeed happened. Others might not know, but how could he not be clear about it himself?
Thinking of this, Wei Jing Mo felt even more sorrowful and cried even more heartbrokenly.
Feng Bai Su was now truly at a loss. Looking at the gradually setting sun in the distance, she thought about how the military generals would be coming out soon. If they saw these young gentlemen, she feared these young gentlemen would cry even more miserably.
She finally spoke somewhat helplessly, “Tell me, what do I need to do for you to stop crying?”
When Wei Jing Mo heard her words, he gradually calmed down after crying for a while.
When he raised his rabbit-like red eyes, he saw Feng Bai Su’s peach blossom eyes looking at him gently and helplessly. It was completely different from her usual lazy and careless appearance. Her eyes were filled only with his image.
His heart felt as if it had been lightly scratched, and he unconsciously avoided her gaze.
He spoke in a muffled voice, “…I just couldn’t help it, but I’m fine now.”
Seeing that he had finally calmed down, Feng Bai Su felt relieved.
She didn’t pay attention to what he said, only wanting to quickly take this delicate young gentleman out.
“It’s getting dark, let’s go out. The military generals training in this forest will be coming out soon, it might not be appropriate for you to stay here any longer.”
Wei Jing Mo lowered his head and nodded, softly making an “mm” sound.
Feng Bai Su, as if frightened by his crying, asked politely after he put on his shoes: “Shall I carry you onto the horse?”
When Wei Jing Mo heard her words, he couldn’t help but feel shy again. But he had to nod while enduring the embarrassment.
Seeing this, Feng Bai Su quickly picked him up, trying her best to avoid touching his body as she placed him on the horse.
Wei Jing Mo only felt a warmth on his body, and by the time he realized it, he was already sitting on the horse.
Seeing her actions that seemed to avoid him at all costs, he felt a bit lost for some reason.
After Feng Bai Su saw him seated properly, she reminded him in a low voice: “Sit tight and hold on.”
Then she took the reins on one side and led the small chestnut horse towards the outside.
——
Shen Ruo and the others were anxiously pacing back and forth outside. Seeing that Feng Bai Su had gone in for so long without coming out, they grew increasingly worried.
Suddenly, a young gentleman beside them called out: “They’re out! They’re out!”
Hearing this, Shen Ruo looked over and saw Feng Bai Su leading the small chestnut horse out, with Wei Jing Mo sitting on it.
His eyes instantly turned red, and he ran towards the two: “Cousin, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.”
Wei Jing Mo, seeing his guilty expression, comforted him in a gentle voice: “It’s alright, cousin, look, I’m fine now, aren’t I?”
This calm and composed appearance showed no trace of his earlier spoiled crying.
Feng Bai Su glanced back, thinking to herself: This young gentleman is quite capable, he has two faces!
“Alright, it’s almost dark, you should hurry back.”
She interrupted them, reminding them.
Hearing this, Shen Ruo finally stopped and turned to Feng Bai Su, thanking her with rare sincerity: “Thank you, Seventh Princess, for saving us.”
Feng Bai Su waved her hand dismissively, noticing from the corner of her eye that Wei Jing Mo wanted to get down from the horse. She stopped him: “Stay put on the horse, do you not want your foot anymore?”
When Wei Jing Mo heard her words and saw everyone’s gaze fall on him, he seemed to think of something. His jade-like face was tinged with a layer of rouge red, looking exceptionally beautiful under the setting sun.
He bit his thin lips and didn’t move again.
Shen Ruo, who was closest to him, didn’t notice the change in his face, only hearing about his foot.
He instantly became worried again: “Your foot is injured?”
Seeing his tears about to fall again, Wei Jing Mo quickly said: “I just twisted it a little, don’t worry, cousin.”
Feng Bai Su, seeing the two about to start talking endlessly again, looked at the sun that had already set halfway in the sky. She shoved the reins in her hand into Shen Ruo’s hand, urging: “Alright, alright, why so many words? If you don’t want to be seen by the military generals, you should leave quickly.”
The two were successfully silenced by her interruption. Shen Ruo couldn’t help but secretly glare at her.
Indeed, still so annoying!
Feng Bai Su urged again: “Go quickly, go quickly!”
The young gentlemen, being hurried along as if they were stinking bugs, couldn’t help but blush.
Red with anger!
Feng Bai Su, watching their retreating figures, only felt her body and mind relax.
Indeed, young gentlemen are really troublesome!
