Chapter 47: Returning Home
Three days later, today was the day for Wei Jing Mo to return home.
As the sky was just beginning to brighten, Wei Jing Mo woke up.
He moved his slightly sore and soft body, almost unable to hold back a moan.
Turning his head, he looked at Feng Bai Su, who was still sleeping soundly beside him.
Her long hair, like thick ink, was casually scattered on both sides of the pillow, half-covering her usually casual and flirtatious face. Her peach blossom eyes were lightly closed, leaving only a faint shadow under her long and thick eyelashes.
Wei Jing Mo couldn’t help but hold his breath, muttering softly, “This face is really attracting bees and butterflies…”
Before he could finish speaking, Feng Bai Su suddenly stretched out her arm and wrapped him in her embrace.
“Mmph…”
Wei Jing Mo, caught off guard, immediately fell into her arms, his delicate nose tip bumping against her hard collarbone.
“Your… Your Highness, let me go, I need to get up.”
But Feng Bai Su tightened her grip on his waist without moving.
Pulling him closer into her arms, her eyes still closed, she rested her chin on top of his head and said in a hoarse voice, “The sky hasn’t brightened yet, what are you getting up so early for? Stay and sleep with me for a while longer.”
Wei Jing Mo, however, freed one arm and punched her angrily, “Have you forgotten?!”
“Hmm, what?”
“Today is the day I return home. I told you last night, yet you still went overboard! And now, you haven’t even remembered!”
He couldn’t help but punch her again, somewhat gritting his teeth, “Today is even better, you actually still haven’t remembered!”
Wei Jing Mo felt that he had been angry more times since getting married than in the past year.
This person always had a way of stirring up his emotions, whether happy or angry!
Thinking of how those newly married men always complained that once married, their wife-masters no longer cherished them and gradually revealed their true nature.
Wei Jing Mo never thought Feng Bai Su would be one of those wife-masters!
Today she could forget the big day of his return home, then tomorrow she could forget other things.
Just thinking about this, Wei Jing Mo became sad, and his eyes started to turn red.
Feng Bai Su sensed something was wrong when the little gentleman started questioning her!
She immediately opened her eyes and looked down at the person in her arms, indeed seeing that his eyes had turned red.
Seeing this, all her sleepiness instantly disappeared, and she immediately sat up holding him.
Pinching his chin and lifting it up, she said, “Why are you crying? Can you stop rushing to convict me every time? The wrongful accusations I’ve endured these past few days are more than in the past year, and you, my little cry-baby gentleman, are largely responsible for that!”
She lowered her head and lightly pecked his thin lips, continuing in a low voice, “How could I forget such an important day as your return home? Besides…”
She suddenly chuckled, her voice somewhat playful, “You were so enthusiastic about it last night, how could I possibly forget…”
Seeing her being improper again, Wei Jing Mo glared at her angrily, “I wasn’t… I just wanted you to stop pestering me!”
“Oh?”
Feng Bai Su raised an eyebrow, her face full of meaning.
Clearly not believing Wei Jing Mo’s words.
Seeing this, Wei Jing Mo, exasperated, punched her hard again.
Feeling that this person was simply too mischievous!
If it weren’t for her extremely good-looking face, with her personality, probably no young gentleman would like her!
Wei Jing Mo used to think this person was cold, now he felt that he was the fool for thinking that way!
Feng Bai Su, looking at the angry little gentleman, felt inexplicably delighted.
Glancing at the sky outside, she embraced him and lay down again, gently coaxing, “Alright, alright, it’s my fault. Stay with me a bit longer, we’ll go together later.”
“Your Highness will accompany me too?”
Wei Jing Mo’s struggling movements paused, his ink-black eyes brightening slightly.
“Too?”
Feng Bai Su rolled this word around in her mouth before slowly speaking, “Where did this ‘too’ come from?”
Wei Jing Mo: “…”
He immediately hid his mouth in Feng Bai Su’s embrace.
Just now, when he heard that she would accompany him back home, he suddenly recalled what Dong Gua had told him about the rumors concerning the Fifth Princess and his cousin.
His mind heated up, and he blurted it out without thinking.
Wei Jing Mo felt that he’d better not mention this matter, lest she think he was comparing her to others.
Although he indeed had some suspicion of doing so.
He thought somewhat guiltily in his heart.
Feng Bai Su waited for a long time but didn’t hear the little gentleman’s answer.
She looked down and saw the little gentleman closing his eyes like a small quail. If his long curled eyelashes weren’t trembling, it might have been more convincing.
Feng Bai Su looked at the person pretending to be asleep, but didn’t expose his little trick, only her red lips couldn’t help but curl up slightly.
—
At Chen time, the two got up, prepared the gifts for returning home, and set off for the North-Guarding Marquis Manor.
After Wei Jing Mo got into the carriage, he saw Feng Bai Su lift the curtain and get in as well.
He couldn’t help but feel puzzled, “Your Highness, why are you coming up too?”
Aren’t you… riding a horse?
Although Feng Bai Su said she would accompany him back, Wei Jing Mo had assumed she would be like the Fifth Princess, escorting him to the North-Guarding Marquis Manor, paying a brief visit, and then leaving.
Hearing this, Feng Bai Su looked at him somewhat strangely, “… Am I not allowed to ride in the carriage?”
“Of course not!”
Wei Jing Mo immediately shook his head.
He felt that what she said was ridiculous, as if he was some oppressive tyrant!
“That’s good.”
Feng Bai Su quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
After their conversation drifted along this strange line of thought, Wei Jing Mo lost the desire to inquire further.
Upon arriving at the North-Guarding Marquis Manor, Feng Bai Su got out of the carriage first and waited for Wei Jing Mo.
Seeing him lift the curtain and walk out, she naturally wrapped her arm around his waist and lifted him down.
Wei Jing Mo: “…”
Why is she always so quick with her movements?
Shen Ke was standing at the entrance of the manor. Seeing the intimate behavior between the two, he couldn’t help but smile.
It seems that the Seventh Princess truly has some genuine feelings for Mo’er.
When Wei Jing Mo looked up, he saw Shen Ke smiling at them with eyes full of joy.
Behind him were Zhou Side Husband and Wu Side Husband, as well as his two half-brothers, Wei Jing Qi and Wei Jing Hua.
Seeing so many people watching, Wei Jing Mo felt somewhat embarrassed.
He quickly broke free from Feng Bai Su and walked a few steps forward. Looking at Shen Ke, he called out, “Father!”
Feng Bai Su, on the other hand, followed without changing her expression. She cupped her hands towards Shen Ke, “Father-in-law.”
She no longer had her usual lazy demeanor, but bowed respectfully.
Seeing this, Shen Ke became even happier.
He quickly invited the two to enter the manor, “We’re all family, there’s no need for such formalities. Come in quickly! Let’s talk inside!”
Hearing this, Feng Bai Su naturally nodded with a smile.
Wei Jing Mo also linked arms with Shen Ke and walked into the manor first.
The two side husbands and Wei Jing Qi and Wei Jing Hua, who were following behind them, saw Feng Bai Su calmly and naturally following behind Wei Jing Mo, without any princess airs. Their expressions varied, and it was unclear what they were thinking.
After Feng Bai Su followed Wei Jing Mo and Shen Ke to the guest hall.
They had just sat down when they heard a servant outside the door say, “Primary Husband, the Marquis has returned!”
Hearing this, Feng Bai Su, looking at the room full of men, felt it inappropriate to stay any longer. She immediately stood up and bid farewell to Shen Ke, “Then, Father-in-law, I’ll go to Mother-in-law’s side first!”
After speaking, she smiled at Wei Jing Mo beside her, then turned and left the guest hall.
After Feng Bai Su left, Shen Ke intended to have some private words with Wei Jing Mo.
He waved his hand, dismissing Zhou Side Husband and Wu Side Husband, as well as Wei Jing Qi and Wei Jing Hua, who were sitting beside them.
Only after the attending servants closed the door and left did the father and son begin to speak in hushed tones.
Shen Ke held Wei Jing Mo’s hand and began to ask, “How have these days been since your marriage? Is the Seventh Princess treating you well? Are those side husbands in her back courtyard behaving themselves? Has she been staying in your courtyard these past few days?”
He asked several questions in one breath, looking at Wei Jing Mo with burning eyes, full of concern.
Wei Jing Mo didn’t know which question to answer first.
But this moment of silence made Shen Ke immediately furrow his brows, his voice lowering, “What’s wrong? Is she not treating you well? Or are those side husbands in her back courtyard bullying you? Father-”
“No, it’s not like that! Father.”
Seeing him getting more and more anxious, Wei Jing Mo immediately interrupted.
Looking at Shen Ke, he said gently, “I’ve been doing quite well these past few days. The Seventh Princess treats me extremely well!”
Hearing this, Shen Ke breathed a sigh of relief, “That’s good, that’s good.”
Looking up, he saw his son’s face flushed red, his ink-black eyes unable to hide his sweetness.
He paused, then spoke somewhat earnestly: “It’s normal for you to be sweetly in love as newlyweds. When your mother and I first married, we were also inseparable and wanted to be together every day. However, women tend to get bored easily with the old and prefer the new. You mustn’t be blinded by her momentary tenderness; you need to keep your wits about you!”
“Take your mother, such an unfeeling person. Back then, when she took those two side husbands, she was also excited for a while. How much more so with the Seventh Princess! My son, you must not let yourself fall too deeply! Otherwise, you’ll only end up with more sorrow!”
Shen Ke didn’t want to say these unpleasant things when the two of them were so deeply in love.
But he was afraid that if he didn’t tell him these things in advance, it would be too late when he was in too deep!
Wei Jing Mo naturally knew that Shen Ke was saying these things for his own good.
But Feng Bai Su’s situation was different from other women, so he didn’t have such concerns.
Therefore, when he looked at Shen Ke, his expression was very relaxed and natural: “Father, you don’t need to worry. Actually… the Seventh Princess doesn’t have any side husbands in her back courtyard. And since we got married, we’ve been living together all the time. The new room is the courtyard where she used to live before.”
His face was tinged with a blush, and there was some shyness in his eyes.
Hearing this, Shen Ke was stunned.
What did he mean by no side husbands? Could it be…
When he realized, his face instantly turned pale: “Could it be that she has some hidden ailment?”
The initial reactions of father and son to this news were surprisingly consistent.
But one can’t blame Shen Ke for thinking this way, after all, this was the norm in this era. It was common for women to have three husbands and four side husbands. As a princess, Feng Bai Su should have had even more men around her.
Suddenly hearing such shocking news, it’s no wonder Shen Ke would think in that direction. This was a completely normal psychological reaction.
Seeing that Shen Ke had misunderstood, Wei Jing Mo quickly shook his head: “No, Father, Her Highness simply doesn’t want to, that’s all.”
He said in a rather embarrassed, low voice: “She… her body is quite healthy.” Every night she was overly passionate.
Hearing this, Shen Ke finally breathed a sigh of relief.
